Ross Coulthart
Investigative journalist
Ross Coulthart is an Australian investigative journalist, author, and filmmaker with more than three decades in broadcast reporting. He came to the UAP beat as a skeptic and built it into a major strand of his work, currently as a special correspondent for NewsNation in the United States.
His 2021 book In Plain Sight gathered witness accounts and documentary threads around the phenomenon, and in 2023 he conducted the first major broadcast interview with whistleblower David Grusch, helping move those allegations into mainstream coverage. A lot of the recent public conversation runs through reporting he either broke or amplified.
Coulthart is a reporter, not a claimant, and the distinction matters for how to read him. He surfaces sources and pushes for records. He does not certify that the claims are true. His value to the story is access and persistence, and his critics and admirers tend to argue about the same thing: how much weight to give sources who will speak only to a journalist.
