David Grusch

Former intelligence officer turned whistleblower

US Air ForceNRONGAUAP Task Force

David Grusch is a former US Air Force officer and intelligence official who served as the National Reconnaissance Office's representative to the government's Unidentified Aerial Phenomena Task Force, and earlier at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency. He spent his career in roles most people never hear about, which is part of why his decision to go public landed as hard as it did.

In 2023 Grusch filed a whistleblower complaint and then testified, under oath, before a House Oversight subcommittee on July 26, 2023. He alleged that the United States runs a decades-long program to recover and reverse-engineer craft of non-human origin, and that it holds non-human "biologics." The intelligence community's inspector general had earlier found his complaint credible and urgent, which is what moved it into the open.

The crucial caveat is one Grusch states himself. His testimony rests on interviews with dozens of people he says have direct knowledge, not on material he handled firsthand. No documents or recovered craft have been produced to confirm the claims. What makes him significant is not proof. It is that a credentialed intelligence officer made these allegations on the record, to Congress, and forced a formal process around them.
